We are looking for committee members for YAP 2020. Each committee member is expected to commit to the NAD YAP preparations from Fall 2019 to Summer 2020. The committee members will be required to attend to the NAD YAP Retreat on June 27 – June 30, 2020 and then the NAD Conference until July 5, 2020 in Chicago.

Available positions are:

  • Judge/Evaluation Coordinator: Works on the details of the judging process and assesses the YAP program evaluations
    • Identify and selects judges for the competition, with the approval of the committee
    • Responsible for judges’ schedule 
    • Develop questions for all competition rounds, with the approval of the committee
    • Schedule private interviews
    • Work with the judges before and during the competition, including a short training you provide
    • Develop an effective scoring system, including score sheets
    • Strategize and plan an electronic voting system for the competition
    • Ensure full access to technology during the competition
    • Ensure there are copies of score sheets for every judge, expectations are explained, and provide support when needed
    • Remain neutral and confidential at all times
    • Keep a supply list needed for the final competition (envelopes, thank you notes, voting process and more)

Timeline of commitment expected: 8 months prior to the NAD Conference

  • Stage Tech Coordinator: Focuses on the “face” of the contestants throughout the conference such as opening act, talking points, and final competition night.
    • Work closely with the Director and Logistics Coordinator for the following:
      • Stage design
      • Theme
      • Lighting
      • Seating assignments
      • Schedule of the final competition
      • Props
      • Music
    • List specifics (props, lights and stage designs) 
    • Write program run down for AV
    • Manage backstage expectations
    • Supervise rehearsal and support the participants’ needs
    • Identify and selects emcee(s) with the approval of the committee and works closely with the emcee(s)
