Presenters
Chanel Bonheyo, a Maryland native, is passionate about youth leadership. Chanel received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with minors in Writing and Graphic Design from Gallaudet University and holds a Masters’ degree in Project Management and concentration in Leadership from Northeastern University. Chanel is the current Director of Youth Programs at the National Association of the Deaf. She has participated in several of NAD youth programs personally and professionally. Chanel attended the NAD Youth Leadership Camp both as a Leader in 2007, as a Builder in 2013, then as the Youth Program Director in 2018. In her leisure time, Chanel and her husband, Ryan, enjoy rooting for the Ravens and spending time with their husky pups, Coco and Ace.
Chelsea spent most of their years in Northeastern United States (NJ, DC, & MA) and now lives in Colorado. Chelsea received their Bachelors of Art in Psychology from Gallaudet University and Masters of Arts in Sociology from New Mexico State University. Chelsea was involved with NAD Youth Leadership Camp as a builder in 2015 and 2017, and is one of the founders of the NAD Youth Section. Currently, Chelsea works as a freelance Deaf Interpreter. In their down time, they love acting and going on hikes in the beautiful Colorado mountains with their partner, Sarah, and their pup, Honey.
Jimel was born in Jamaica and raised in Illinois where he attended Illinois School for the Deaf for four years and excelled as a four year student athlete. Upon graduation, he attended Gallaudet University and graduated with a B.S in Physical Education in 2017. After graduating, Jimel moved to Seattle in 2018 to work as the Community Outreach Coordinator at Abused Deaf Women’s Advocacy Services (ADWAS). Jimel has been working at the Youth Leadership Camp (YLC) since 2015. He became the Camp Director in 2017. In his free time Jimel enjoys cycling, filming, playing sports, road trips and is a proud vegan.
