An article from Annabelle Scroggins:

Howdy readers,

Y’ all know me, my name is Annabelle Scroggins and I’m a senior! I will be sharing my experience as the Jr. NAD ambassador and as a senior during this time, aka the COVID-19 pandemic!

As an Ambassador, my goal was to raise awareness about diversity at my school, Texas School for the Deaf. The  final project was to host a Diversity Fair event! As I was preparing my platform presentation last spring, including the goals I had for my role. Unfortunately, COVID-19 happened so I didn’t get a chance to give the presentation at my school. I was sad about that! However, I’m grateful for our amazing social media that allowed me to do my ambassador duties!

During 2020 summer, I did the COVID tips on NAD Youth instagram where I shared different tips on how to keep busy during pandemic! In the fall, I moderated for the “Youth Leadership in a Pandemic: Black Lives Matter: webinar by Christopher Johnson! The webinar was amazing! I also moderated a Jr.NAD webinar with two Jr. NAD delegates, Aubrie Bauer and Natnail Tolossa. We all talked about their experience as NAD delegates during the Council of Representative meetings! It was awesome. FYI, you can check the recorded webinars on NAD Youth Programs Facebook!

What I have done as an Ambassador was an amazing experience for me. However, as a senior, this year was shocking for me. I never imagined for my senior year to be completely virtual and to have all classes and activities through Zoom. I’m actually speechless, and I honestly don’t know how to describe my experience as a senior because I feel like I have not started my senior year yet! However, I’m excited to graduate and go to college. Onwards!

Sincerely,

Annabelle Scroggins (signed in cursive pink font)
